Since the untimely death of Prince Rogers Nelson, we all have shared so many images, clips, and quotes of the icon known as Prince. Yet, of all the clips and posts that I shared about Prince, this has to be the most touching. I pray that this resonates with you as much as it did it with me. Van Jones explains Prince’s ideology—in everything that you do, “do more” for your community.

Many times, people do things for the fame, the fortune, and the glory. That thing may be success and accolades in your career, a gift to a friend, or a charitable donation. All of these will receive a return of a thank you, and some may even have a financial benefit. But, what are you doing when no one is looking? Would you do those things if no one ever thanked you?

Are you doing things to better the community, or are you just sucking the last of the clean air boasting about yourself? People may mourn for you when you take your last breath, but what will be your lasting legacy, if any? Can you say that you helped improve your community, and what about the communities halfway across the globe? Now, that’s a true impact. If not, then it’s time to do more. And, if so, guess what? It’s still time to do more. Why? Because we do not live in a perfect world, and there’s always room to do more.
